Going en Pointe is one of the most memorable moments in a ballerina’s life.
Our Pointe Ballet classes are for dancers who have studied Ballet for a minimum of 4 years. Dancers will not be permitted to begin Pointe until age eleven, to ensure the health and safety of the Dancer. When a teacher feels a student is ready to train for Pointe work she will be asked to study Ballet in “Demi-Pointe” for six months or to take a Pre-Pointe class that encompasses all the strong fundamentals for an injury free career in Dance.
Pointe work originates at the Ballet barre, building balance and strength. The class then moves to the center to work on combinations that reflect the age and ability of the Dancers. Students will be taught intricate new steps and combinations as they progress in age and class level. Students will also be taught to care for and prepare their toe shoes for class.
