We are so proud of our Landrum students Vicki Maglaras and Katie McQuade! Both young ladies received a Girl of Merit Award at the held at the Terrace on the Park in Queens, NY on March 16 2014.
Criteria for this award includes achieving high academic performance in school, being a positive role model, being involved in community service and charity organizations.
Over 1,500 girls from all five boroughs in New York City applied; Vicki and Katie were among 14 young women selected to receive this honor!
Both of these girls are wonderful role models for younger students to look up to.
Vicki has always been such a welcoming presence at Landrum treating each and every new student with kindness and congeniality.
She has always been able to maintain terrific grades in school while attending Landrum for 9 plus hours a week in addition to student teaching and teaching dance.
Katie started her own foundation for Pancreatic Cancer called KatherinePotholdersTo CurePC.com. She also balances school, dance and competes in National Beauty Pageants.
Friends, family and fellow teammates were at the event to cheer on these two remarkable young ladies as they recieved their Girls of Merit Awards.
